I can highly recommend Dr. C.R. Strotz. Granted, my experience with him was for internal fractures and two torn ligaments in my knee, not ankle, after an accident, but I would imagine he does ankles very well too. He has truly deep experience, is very patient, knowledgeable, gentle, and willing to explain. He can help you evaluate options, and has the solid and effective reputation that caring for the Cal Bears’ injuries for years brings (being female and not a huge sports person, I still felt very comfortable with his experience and manner). He wound up advising AGAINST surgery in my case, recommending various non-invasive techniques instead, and was successful. (How often do you get a specialized surgeon NOT promoting his more expensive services?!?)
As an athlete, I’ve seen Dr. Cummins dozens of times in the past couple of years. He’s treated me for knee injuries, a back injury, a neck injury, shin splints–and he’s been fantastic every single time. He’s always on time, he gets me in on short notice, and he spends a ton of time with me during every visit. Unlike most doctors these days, he never rushes me, he answers all of my many questions, and he’s always gotten me on the road to recovery. My sense is that he’s best with very active people, but I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
William Nicholas, x-ray technician, was very supportive and caring. He explained what we were going to do and we did that. Having x-rays here are most comfortable I’ve ever experienced (and there have been a lot).
