Dr. Shen is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and holds a subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Shen graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a major in biology and a minor in history. He received his medical education from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and completed his residency at the University of Michigan. Prior to returning home to the Bay Area, Dr. Shen completed a one-year Physiatry Spine and Sports fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Shen spends time as a clinical physician for the University of California, Berkeley Student Health Center. He serves as a physician consultant to the UC Berkeley Sports Medicine Program and works directly with Cal Golden Bears football team.

Dr. Shen is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the International Spine Intervention Society, and North American Spine Society.
