Coach Randy B.
I have the utmost respect for Dr. Zwahlen and Dr. Roghair. I really feel they are working to achieve excellence. They are not just incredibly talented and skilled physicians; I know that they care and wanted the very best for the their patients. Now I am looking forward to again riding a bike, which I haven’t been able to do for years.
I want to thank you for the way you have been handling my broken fibula. Although this routine fracture must be a ho-hum issue for a surgeon, Dr. Zwahlen, you have gone out of your way to explain, demonstrate and listen. I truly appreciate the extra time you’ve taken to explain the x-rays, expected outcomes, etc. I wouldn’t have thought an older woman would receive such caring advice and good listening in a sports clinic… you are a well-rounded group indeed!
Dr. Zwahlen, I wanted to let you know the results of the cortisone injection you gave me. In the weeks before I got the injection my shoulder was rapidly losing range of motion. The morning after the injection I had dramatically greater range of motion. More importantly the trend was completely reversed. In the weeks following the injection my range of motion has continued to increase and at this point a month after the injection. I have almost my entire range of motion back and am completely pain free. Thank you very much!!
Dr. Zwahlen, I am so grateful you eliminated my “frozen shoulder”. It is so marvelous to be “me” again. When I am swimming using the crawl stroke I think how very lucky I am. The same goes for when I’m carrying Pelicans around and lifting them up onto a balance to check for weight gain. As you anticipated, manipulation under anesthesia led to full recovery and full use of my right shoulder. I discontinued physical therapy at the end of July and had already resumed all normal activities by that time. I continued to stretch and strengthen and feel absolutely great with my normal right shoulder.
I would like to thank you and your entire marvelously talented team, each of whom is a star in their own right. I started with Dr. Chad Roghair who gently informed me that I was no longer 18 even though it was my 60th birthday. Gaye DeRusso was also wonderfully patient, explaining each part of the surgical process when I approached her with my long list of questions. Lastly, I need to thank Dr. Zwahlen who deftly slipped in a highly successful arthroscopy of my left knee between the 2 shoulder surgeries just a few days before Christmas. And, while I didn’t dance at the family’s Christmas party I could have, if someone had only asked. Thank you so much for everything, of course my wife thanks you as well.
Dear Dr. Roghair, Thanks for all you do for St, Mary’s Basketball.
